Press Release

Lewes, DE-- Crooked Hammock Brewery is no stranger to man’s best friend. With their year-round, dog friendly beer garden, it only makes sense that this year they give back to their furry companions.

In its fourth year, Crooked Hammock continues their three month community support program for the new year. This time bringing beer lovers and dog lovers together to raise money for Georgetown's Brandywine Valley SPCA (BVSPCA).

“Over the past three years we have had the pleasure of working with some really great organizations and are nothing short of grateful for the support the restaurant and these groups receive from the community as a whole”, says Erica Wiegman, Marketing Coordinator of La Vida Hospitality, the group which manages the brewpub and restaurant. In just 3 years, the group has raised close to $19,000 in their “Beers for” community outreach events to support local nonprofits. In years past these include: the Lewes Public Library, First Responders, and Clear Space Theatre.

This years’ recipients , Brandywine Valley SPCA, helps care for over 13,000 animals each year. Providing placements and finding homes for at least 96% of the pets that go through their shelters. The BVSPCA works to provide these animals and their new owners with a variety of care such as  medical attention, vet services, and even behavior teams to help with the transition from adoption to your home.

“As a business owner in a variety of service industries, as well as an animal advocate, I am grateful to be able to combine my work and my passions together in an effort to help our homeless animal population. I’m looking forward to working with both Brandywine SPCA and La Vida on this joint fundraising mission to both create awareness and help place as many animals as possible in their fur-ever homes”, says Tara Lausch, owner of Soulfish Tribe, Get Your Wag On Pet Services and Tara Lausch Photography, the three sponsors for the monthly awareness events that will occur at the restaurant.

Throughout January, February, and March Crooked Hammock will donate 25 cents of every pint of beer sold to Georgetown’s Brandywine Valley SPCA. Over the course of the three months they will host engaging monthly events to extend awareness and raising efforts for the BVSPCA. These efforts will help to find the animals forever homes and the support and resources that follow the adoptions.
